nightMair Creations founder Donna Mair began Comfort Doll Project charity 15 yrs ago, starting with the idea of involving musicians to give back. The original idea (photos of the band holding a comfort doll) soon morphed into the bands donating used guitar and bass strings which are turned into bracelets, necklaces, keychains, dream catchers and whatever else we can imagine.
100% of proceeds of the sale of these guitar string items goes to charity – most often World Vision, but often the local food banks, specific disaster relief, etc.
The bands have been extremely generous by supporting our initiative, and the fans love wearing something that was used at a favourite concert, or played their favorite songs live. Its a powerful and personal memento. Its also a simple way to take an item that would otherwise end up in the trash, and do great things with it on behalf of the band and the fan. Its a win win.
